He began playing the piano at age four, the cello at six and began composing at sixteen. He received a B.A. in composition from the Manhattan School of Music in 1990 after which he studied privately with Nils Vigeland for two years. At Music Under Construction he produced a concert of Melodramas which included the premiere of his The Lightning Rod Man, based on the short story by Herman Melville.

He has been working with choreographers for several years and is a founder of the Dance Sundays series at the Construction Company with the Choreographer Elke Rindfleisch and has collaborated with her on several dance/music pieces. In the fall of 1998 his electronic work ROUND TRIP was included in a six-city tour of Belgium by Nieuwe Oogst new music group. He is currently working with the choreographer Jeffrey Bauer.
