Director: Mei-Yin Ng
MEI-BE Whatever is an evolving experimental art ensemble based in New York City. Current investigations fuse media technologies with contemporary dance. Staging a variety of multi-media events, MEI-BE Whatever explores the ever changing relationship between the body and the technology, the real and the virtual world.
The company has been presented internationally at Leap Festival 05 in Liverpool, UK; IFFC Festival in Barcelona, Spain; SESC Festival of Arts in Sao Paulo, Brazil; International Choreographer’s Platform in Almada, Portugal; Fabbrica Europa, Bassano State Opera Festival, and Enzimi Festival in Italy, as well US venues such as PS122, Movement Research at the Judson Church, The Flea and Boston Cyberarts Festival.
Artistic Director/Choreographer Mei-Yin Ng is a recipient of NYFA Choreography Fellowship 2004 and a selected participant in the 2004 Multimedia Forum of the Monaco Dance Forum. Works has been received support from New York Foundation of the Art, Manhattan Community Arts Fund & Jerome Foundation.
Work ranges from improvisation with walkman and cell phone to site-specific work for an advertisement office cubical in NYC and a pre-war coffee house in Malaysia. Initially focusing on modern movement as inner being, Ng’s work continues to evolve within the possibilities of contemporary technologies.

Initially studying Chinese & Malay dance for no other reason than that's what was available, Ng moves to New York in the early 90;s and later awarded scholarships to Merce Cunningham Studio and Trisha Brown School.
